Linda’s Song – Poem by Debra Sherman

You know I can’t hear you
What did you say?
I guess I don’t know you,
at least not in this way.

The man I know loves me,
watches out for my heart
He never would hurt me,
he’s been there from the start.

Now here you are saying
that you’d like to leave
Start a new life all over,
that does not include me.

I can’t say I blame you
I’m not what you need
You gave all there was of you
and got nothing from me.

Do you think you could leave,
knowing that I
will love you completely
til the day that I die?

I’d love you to stay
and be by my side
How I wish I had heard you,
then you might still be mine.
